Cambridge on the Grand…

In decades prior it was known as Galt. A textile powerhouse leveraging the power of the Grand River to drive commerce. Dyers, weavers, and all manner of fabric manufacturing was centered here. The architecture of the  city reflects this heritage…

One should note that Cambridge in really the amalgamation of three distinct cities and a hamlet.

  1.  City of Galt
  2. Towns of Preston
  3. Towns of Hespeler
  4. Hamlet of Blair.

Listening to the towns folks it sounds like in the early 70’s some government official(s) got a wild hair and decided that these four distinct areas with their individual identities really needed to be combined and forged into…yes Cambridge…

And voila Cambridge was instantiated…somehow I get the feeling nobody is really happy about the “Menage a quatro Marriage”…but in Canada somehow it all works out…

The first evening, “The Skipper” (my brother-in-law) was competing in the snooker finals at the legion hall…I was there to cheer him on!

I know next to nothing about “Snooker” but that has never been an issue…his team finished second, but I was there for him…With the fortification only “Rickards Red” can provide. Walking back up the hill to the ranch was a <ahem> challenge…
