Down the east coast we slide. The days are warmer and humidity is the norm. Sounds like we’re headed for the Caribbean tropics!
As luck would have it, we transitioned off the A1A to the 95 south and passed through Daytona Beach…on race day…fortunately for us everyone had already arrived so while the seat and parking lots were full the roads weren’t.
Maybe it was just passing the storied racetrack that triggered us to notice the classic cars on the road but it seemed that there were more of them the further into Florida we went.
Barb has some friends that moved here from Portland a couple of years back. We were fortunate to spend some time with them and get a “locals” view of the area…
We went to dinner out on the pier were all the cruise ships moor. They were all at sea but this bar…restaurant was a hoot. Truly the place where those that are young at heart congregate for a good time…and yes we had great time.
But remember that classic car thing…Nancy & her beau John came picked us up to go to dinner in this…fully restored and tricked out Classic!
Absolutely the best way to get to the shin-dig on the pier. Dinner and sunset was marvelous and as desert settled the sport fishing boats started coming back…with their catch…
Even the boats are tricked out…when was the last time you saw blue lights underneath a sportfisher?
Check out the minnows drawn to the light…and a few predators lurking just beyond ring of light…
The next day it was off to a real beach with sand and sun! And a working fishing pier.
I can now say we’re finally in the tropics…pass the sunscreen!
