Hatteras, and back…

The Outer Banks…Kitty Hawk…Orackoke…

Into the North Carolina barrier islands…Stopping at the visitors center we were met with some pretty surly and disinterested folks…heading to the lavatories, we ran into these two folks making sure *ONLY* the right gender uses their facilities…Wow…just Wow.

With that behind us we headed on down the road to where the Wright Brothers made history…

We hiked up to the park monument…beautiful view…

Walking back to the coach, one of the most innovative aircraft in decades flew into the park…a V-22 Osprey…talk about serendipity, one of the newest planes flying over where it all started…

Hatteras was the next stop down the winding roads of OBX…Barb wanted to get the spaceship and start a coffee shop called…Bean Me Up…

Hitting the beach by the lighthouse it turns out that it was moved due to beach erosion…

Pulling into the campground…we met our first amphibian of the trip…Koko wasn’t up for any adoptions…

Sunset was nothing less than amazing…

As was the sunrise the next day….

We had two ferries to catch to get back to the mainland…Koko was not impressed…We showed up at 7:30 and after being first in line and waiting an hour and half…missed the first ferry from Hatteras to Oracoke due to priority cargo…but they got us on the next one…

…while I was outside taking photos…the princess conned Barb into a puppy massage…

We had several hours to kill before the Oracoke to Cedar Island ferry left. So we looked around the town…

We walked through the museum area…

Then on to the harbor…boats…lots of boats…Koko made a crusing friend or two…I think she could find her sea legs…

Being first in line paid off this time….

Seeing all these sailboats heading for Oracoke for the holiday made me question the wisdom of getting an RV over a sailboat…just sayin’…

Even Koko thought the sailboats were pretty cool….
