Game Day…A draw…

Where else do fans of the beautiful game “StumpTown” fashion get together in Boston? Try…distant parking lot 19 at Gillette Field. Some 40-50 Timbers fans gathered to celebrate the day.

While it was somewhat cold, the people were amazing. If confirmation of “How Small this World Is”  was needed how about running into one of my son’s friends from Sunset High School…class of 2005.

After tailgating (New England style) we chanted to the venue where we were met with the surliest imitations of humans yet. Self-important security guardians making sure that we didn’t present any threats to their venue? Seriously? One security “woman” threatened my wife with exclusion because of the size of the purse. She did everything in her power to make it larger than allowed? By what? a millimeter? When Barb questioned the security person as what she was doing squashing the purse, my wife was threatened to shut up or she’d be thrown out. WTF?

Then the only banner that had been brought and previously cleared by the “Fan Relations” group was summarily rejected buy this ass.

Ostensibly because of size…but was it measured? Did he follow the rules, Hell no, he just made the determination it was too big…just another example of people given rules they can abuse. Thanks for making this day special…in your special way….

Meanwhile, the banners that appeared on Revolution side were…well…let’s just say much like this twit, larger and compensating for something…

All I can say is …I hope he doesn’t try and use a bathroom in North Carolina…

Regardless, it is a great venue. We stood and chanted. Louder than the Revolution fans (or so I think) . We were out numbered by what 100 fans or so? Naw…For such an enormous stadium, this sport is not very well patronized. if there were 10,000 fans including Timbers Army I would be surprised.

Huge stadium, no fans…Really reinforces that whole “New England” over compensation theme….

Too bad it ended in a draw…
