Ooot-n-Aboot…

Catting around Fredericton and Moncton  was a real treat.  Going down to Parlee Beach in Shediac (the lobster capital of NB) beach remains amazing.  WP_20160421_12_58_09_Panorama

Still too early in the season for many of the local institutions, restaurants and *ALL* lobster vendors but still has that great French beach vibe.

On to Moncton for the famous tidal bore on the Petitcodiac which we missed by…yes… *ONE* minute. Barb reminded me of how no good deed goes unpunished.

It was my fault entirely. Being an American in Canada, I *Should* have known it would take more than 15 minutes to put 7.5 gallons into my SmartCar….Eh!

From there we re-visited many of the places we had been some 38 years ago and a host of new places.

How about her old apartment? And who would have thought, Wi-Fi on public transportation. Progressive.

From there we headed to the “Steeves” (Barb’s maiden name) home city, Hillsborough, NB. What a hoot. Sleepy to be sure, but what style and coming this summer is the 250th anniversary of Steeves in New Brunswick. A very big deal! It sports some of the nicest turn of the century buildings, it hosts a Railway museum.

Down the coast we went to one of the most famous natural formations on the Bay of Fundy, the Hopewell Rocks. Again, well in advance of the season but the years since I was last here have wrought big changes. Like the biggest parking lot since Heathrow.DSCF3384 (3)

Seriously, the local “political-do-gooders” have turned it into a vehicle to separate visitor from their cash. All in the name of “Think of the Children” no make that “Line-our-pockets”. Good thing we were there before the season, and didn’t pay anything.

Before we knew it, dinner time. Seafood was required. Something requiring a mano-a-mano confrontation. Shellfish vs Robin…On Main Street, we passed Catch 22 A Lobster Bar. With a name like that what could be better…

And it delivered.

We went back to Fredericton under a full moon…great day!
